Function to check the pattern(i.e 1A-2B-3C)  durga at 03:21 on Friday, June 16, 2006

hi,
I've a field titled"Pattern" and the user must key-in the values in this format-"1N-1A-1X", where the "1" can be any number(0-9) and code prefix must always be a number. The"N" is Numeric,"A" is alphabet and the "X" is alphanumeric. i want a function to check the sequence of pattern, whether the user keyed-in in the same format i.e "1N-1A-1X". any help is very appreciated.

thanks,
Durga.
