How to edit a PCL file  crazyGal at 11:45 on Thursday, April 01, 2010

Hi there,

Could someone tell me if it's safe to edit PCL(Printer Command Language) files in Windows? I've a bunch of PCL files to edit and each PCL file is different when it comes to the header part. So, I'm not able to figure out a standard simple way to edit these files. I used to Regular expressions to find the string to edit and replace but somewhere the printer characters get messed up and the document fails to open. I use SMARTvue to open these PCL files.

Could someone throw few pointers on this one? This would help me a lot.

Thanks,
Thilak

I find some info about your question, wish can help you!
These PCL files have some email address fields that needs to be edited so that the document could be electronically sent to the end user where he could get the document printed.
