help writing comparison CGI  steevwatson at 21:00 on Thursday, December 14, 2006

Hi
I have a very limited knowledge of perl so forgive me if this is a stupid question or if it seems very basic. I'm trying to write code that takes two texts submited from an html form and compares them and then displays the following. How may lines the texts have in common and also lists each word in the texts aswell as how may times they appear in each text.

as i say im just a bigginer so i hope this makes sence!

Cheers S

Hi,

Perl can be used to do this very well. The first thing to do would be to understand regular expressions, it will not take long to get to grips with them, there is a lot of support on the internet. Once you read up on them i think this problem will seem a lot simpler.

I hope this helped.

Marcello
