Don`t know where to ask this, so....  JojoG at 13:05 on Friday, December 03, 2004

I'm using screen settings 1400x1050 and my friend 800x600. When I make web page that looks good in my browser, the same page is huge in he's browser. Is there the way to set the page so that it looks ok in every size of settings?

Please answer here too: themusic1uk@yahoo.com

Thank you

No. Design for the most common screen resolution.

However, you must also consider your users. Even though 1024x768 is the most common, it's safer to assume 800x600. Design for that. If users choose different resolutions, or to not maximize their browsers, that's simply their choice.

Users don't mind scrolling down. Users HATE scrolling sideways. This mimics how people read and is in fact deeply ingrained in how the brain processes written information.

HOWEVER, if you really, really want to go down this road, you need to research the HTML DOM, and learn how to manipulate the browser size.

Do a google search for "screen.width".
