code tag  brindy at 08:58 on Friday, April 02, 2004

Hi Guys,

I like this site, it's cool, but I was just trying to help someone out with some Java when I realised that their code didn't compile even though it said they did. Then I realised why, your forum strips out the italic tag and makes the text italic (fair enough mind)! When using square brackets and a variable called i, very common, this makes things look very weird and actually appears to change the code!

How about supporting a "code" tag so that people can paste their code without the forum affecting the formatting and actually changing their code?

Cheers,
Brindy

I agree with you Brindy, I've run into this many times--almost always with the square bracketed i. I've gotten used to it and now use "[idx]" instead, but a special [code] tag would be helpful.
