My application of ASP.NET doesn`t open

I've just started learning asp.net.My aps.net application doesn't open...i've tried evrything..created virtual directory and gave my directory name in it but it just gives the message file share error....and when i directly without giving folder with the local host it says the server may be out of service...plz give me the directions to activate asp.net..its urgent.
