  HashMaps  LJS619 at 00:03 on Wednesday, October 01, 2008

I have a problem with HashMaps, I am new to java so i don't really know how to use them. What i am supposed to do is read from a text file (contains a chunk of a database that has about 29,000 entries in the given text file, create a Hash of the data, then write the Hash to a binary file. The hash itself is supposed to be an object. Now all the examples of Hash maps that i have seen only use <key, value>. With this text file, the entries are as follows (ID#, author, title, journal, volume, year, keywords). Now how would i be able to accomplish this, i've been searching for over two weeks to find some kind of example of a hash map that can do what i need, but i haven't found anything yet, would anybody be able to show some sample source code, because with my limited knowledge on java, just telling me what to do, isn't going to work that well, thank you in advance
