HTML Launch .exe direct  Sarah Fletcher at 15:30 on Wednesday, June 30, 2004

I am creating an html startup page for an install CD. I have linked buttons to the setup.exe files to launch the program installs. However, this first opens a dialog (not part of the install shield setup) to ask if the user wants to save or open/run the file.

Does anyone know if I can by-pass this in the html code and launch directly into running the setup.exe?

This is not an authoritative answer, but I think the answer is no. Not if linked from a browser app. It's part of native browser security to prompt before openining or running or downloading a non-browser file. I'll watch this thread for answers to the contrary. If I'm wrong, I promise to upload stick-people drawings of me naked on the Internet.

Thank you! I don't think I will have the pleasure of seeing your naked stick-person as I think you are right!
