When opening a file in binary, how do you jump around the file e.g goto to a certain bytes? I'm writing a program that opens up a file and then takes out a certain part and decompresses it. Opening a file isn't exactly hard but I'm seriousy having trouble finding tutorials on manipulating binary files.

What evironment are you coding in(Unix/Lynix or Windows/DOS)? Also, what file structure and functions are you using for file access?
How large are the file you're dealing with? Anything over 2 GBytes in Windows evironment requires you use WIN32 API functions for file access(which adds to complexity of code).
