validation of two text fields on a search page  trevharding at 12:49 on Tuesday, February 15, 2005

I need some input/help on creating an onSubmit validation for two text fields on a search page.

What I need to happen is if text field (1) has a value entered then I need the validation to check and see if text field (2) has a value if text field (2) doesn't then I need the validation to send a popup message to user to let them know that they need to enter a value into text field (2). However if nothing is entered in either text field (1) or (2) I want the submit on the search page to continue as normal.

Any thoughts anyone? Thanks!

This is possible. What specific question do you have?

Thanks for your response.

My question is:

I need an OnSubmit validation to check if text field (1) has a value entered and if so check text field (2) to see if a value is entered and if text field (2) doesn't have a value to send a popup box to let user know to fill in text field (2), otherwise if nothing is entered in text field (1) let the submit go through.

Thanks!

So, are you asking someone to write the entire procedure for you, or have you written the procedure but it isn't working?

If it isn't working, are you getting an error? What error?

Do you just want "some code", or do you want to learn something?

Help me understand your current profeciency and goals, so I can make an effective response.
