This is one of the most spetacular, efficient cursor trail scripts you'll find. I learned the technique and code for creating it from the site SiteExperts, and thought I might share the results with the visitors of Dynamic Drive. The trail you see is constructed using 5 images of descending sizes, each following closely the other.

The first thing I ought to tell you about 'cursor trails' is that they perform nothing useful. They don't improve navigation and they don't add any functionality, but they are fun and entertaining for the user.

This page includes a cursor trail. The trail consists of 5 CSS layers each consisting of an image that makes up the trail. I'll call this combination of an image in its own layer a 'sprite'.
